About Us
http://nettlemeadow.com/index.html Nettle Meadow Goat Farm is currently the home of more than 160 goats, four guard llamas, several chickens, and two very jocular horses. Our rescue sanctuary includes two ancient donkeys, a peacock, several retired goats, and many young bucks waiting for good homes to become pets or brush goats. Approximately 100 goats are milking at any one time and there are goats of all ages living on the farm. We have several juvenile and adolescent goats as well as a number of geriatric goats enjoying their retirement. The goats and other animals are housed in three large barns, including a brand new barn and an historic barn built in 1903. The new barn was built and the oldest barn is being restored by local craftsman, Ed Carpenter. Our four llamas, Eddy, Little Bit, Foonzie and Fancy keep an eye on our many goats morning, noon and night. The farm's seven canines, Miltie, Maggie, Shasta, Olive, Leo, Logan and Sheba; and felines, Zuzu, Bigger, Teeny, Shy-Ann, Sam, Piglet, Pandy, Jet, Tippy, Don Juan, Patty, Pru, Piper, and Pheobe pitch in however they can to add levity and chase away any unwanted critters. The goats' diet includes a variety of natural ingredients including organic hay, grains and wild herbs, raspberry leaf, garlic, and kelp for balanced nutrition. Kunik is our triple cream wheel made from goat's milk and jersey cow cream. It has a white rind and a tangy buttery flavor. Delicious on its own or with fruit and crackers. A wonderful addition to any cheese plate. Wheels vary in size from 10 to 16 ounces. Kunik "buttons" are also available and are smaller in size ranging from 5.5 to 9 ounces.
