About Us
Richland Farmers' Market was started in 2008 by a group of local citizens who wanted to create a place where the community could gather and provide an opportunity for local food sharing. Today, the market is held on Wednesdays outside at the Richland Area Community Center beginning in May and winding up in October. Each Wednesday afternoon is a celebration of local food, arts and crafts and community. Live music wafts out over the lawn as shoppers wind their way along the paved trail that meanders the property. We offer games on the lawn for kids and families and there's always fabulous offerings from our farmers and vendors! The market attracts a wide variety of vendors who provide fresh local fruits and vegetables, baked goods, meats, eggs, local honey, local maple syrup, fresh flowers, annuals and perennials, as well as Michigan made crafts.
The goals of the market are threefold: 1) to operate a VIBRANT farm market that contributes to the success of local farmers, bakers and crafters 2) to create a gathering spot and opportunity for social interactions for Richland/Gull Lake area residents, and 3) to provide an ample selection and variety of high quality, locally produced products for customers of all socioeconomic groups.
Vendors at the Richland Farmers' Market must produce at least 90% of the products that they sell, and no mass produced or out of state products can be sold. Thus, you can be assured that you're getting local, fresh products that are produced by the person you're purchasing them from.
We hope you'll join us at the Market this year!
